New Jhony Jhony sock

Here he is: INeverLikeMaths. INeverCry 01:09, 2 October 2016 (UTC)

Maybe another slight jab at me now that I think of it. INeverCry 05:38, 2 October 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, he has no originality, keeps his names around those of the people who clean up the messes he creates. —SpacemanSpiff 06:46, 2 October 2016 (UTC)
Here's the king of no originality, at least for the last 5 years on Commons. INeverCry 08:05, 2 October 2016 (UTC)

India and state-sponsored terrorism

@SpacemanSpiff:, @NeilN: @MikeLynch: please check article India and state-sponsored terrorism Pak editors are unnecessarily promoting wrong message through this article. I request you to please go through this article. Also check 2016 India–Pakistan military confrontation and 2016 Uri attack bullshit propaganda they are doing particularly after the surgical strike that occurred in Pak by India. Thanks--103.52.254.173 (talk) 12:27, 2 October 2016 (UTC)

Rajiv Gandhi was India's Prime Minister in 1985. The 1985 bombing Air India Flight 182 was investigated by Canadian government. What to do with blatant POV pushing like this?

Salmaan Taseer was killed by his own security guard. Then entire Pakistan police are not Taliban. But if one Srikanth Purohit was linked to Abhinav Bharat, they (Mar4d and SheriffIsInTown) are branding that entire Indian Army and RAW has links with Abhinav Bharat and Hindutva Terror. --Googly Drive (talk) 03:47, 3 October 2016 (UTC)

I don't edit or admin this area, the place to get admin enforcement would be WP:ARE. —SpacemanSpiff 04:00, 3 October 2016 (UTC)

What is going on with all the deletions?

Bengali Muslim architecture and Bengal under the Delhi Sultanate were, I think, pages that I tried to improve. Now they are summarily deleted. Of course, as a non-admin, I can't see the history or what was on the page, and I haven't been able to find any discussion of why it is now deleted. What's going on?? Sminthopsis84 (talk) 03:20, 4 October 2016 (UTC)

Sminthopsis84: The articles were created by a serial sockpuppet who was banned from Bangladesh related articles because of a long (many years long) history of reference falsification and copyright violations. THese two articles were created in violation of that topic ban and the user's indefinite block. You formatted two references in the former (used the right cite templates) and did one vandalism revert but had nothing at all in the edit history of the latter, given that there were no significant contributions from other editors, these two qualify for speedy deletion under WP:G5. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 03:33, 4 October 2016 (UTC)
Crikey. Clear lesson: cleaning up poor pages and/or trying to show someone how to contribute constructively is a waste of my time. Sminthopsis84 (talk) 03:37, 4 October 2016 (UTC)

Miss Earth India

do you heard that controversy of Miss Earth India 2016? by --Sunuraju (talk) 03:42, 7 October 2016 (UTC)

So you never got about to commenting on any of the Padma FLs that you said you would review. Hmm! This being literature related should interest you more than Padmas. Please comment on the FLC. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 11:16, 7 October 2016 (UTC)

@Myedits2

Myedits2 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)

@SpacemanSpiff: a relatively new user @Myedits2 is busy systematically scrubbing out mentions of Vedic Sanskrit in many wiki articles, and moving a number of pages related to Vedic Sanskrit without giving any sources or discussion. @Myedits2 has now engaged into a revert war. Reliable scholarly sources repeatedly use the term "Vedic Sanskrit" (1, 2, 3, etc). Further wiki-wide disruption by @Myedits2 may be worth a watch. Ms Sarah Welch (talk) 04:21, 7 October 2016 (UTC)

@Ms Sarah Welch: Right now it seems to be meeting the letter of the policies as far as reverting (bright line violations) etc goes. While the OR aspect is an issue I can only suggest that you may want to involve other editors (especially linguists) on the article talk page to set the direction once and for all. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 01:02, 10 October 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for this

Thanks for this. I was a half minute behind you on the redirect! Too slow... Cyphoidbomb (talk) 02:25, 17 October 2016 (UTC)

FYI

I'm not sure if you're aware of this or to what extent you've interacted with him, but in case you haven't caught wind, admin Ricky81682 was recently indeffed for sockpuppetry. Very irritating. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:22, 17 October 2016 (UTC) Wasn't aware, a bit strange given that he was one who was affected by a lot of sockpuppetry. BTW, please take a look at Sadh Orhan and others from the sock farm, most aren't eligible for g5 but need deleting. —SpacemanSpiff 00:15, 18 October 2016 (UTC)

Marchoctober AN case

I opened an AN discussion about Marchoctober because in some of these persecution complex cases it's sometimes beneficial to get a voice from a fresh admin. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 06:32, 18 October 2016 (UTC)

I came across MO in the Baahubali thread. The behaviour is very Padmalakshmiesque Vensatry (talk) 07:54, 18 October 2016 (UTC)
@Vensatry: Marchoctober has said he's from California. While I wouldn't normally assume he's telling the truth, the claim is supported by this edit from a California IP at one of the Baahubali articles, which is identical to edits made by Marchoctober.[1][2] Do we have any information linking Padmalakshhsnfxnx to California? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:23, 18 October 2016 (UTC)
There was also this California IP whispering sweet nothings to Marchoctober. And this one. (No doubt the same guy--maybe even Marchoctober himself.) Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:29, 18 October 2016 (UTC)
I remember thinking of Padma last year when this went to ANI then. He has used IPs both in India and in the US (CA specifically) but if it is him then I think he might have showed up in one of Ponyo's many checks in the past year, though I think filing an SPI now should be easy with the amount of behavioral match. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 01:43, 19 October 2016 (UTC)
I don't see many IPs in the archive or at Category:Wikipedia sockpuppets of Padmalakshmisx or Category:Suspected Wikipedia sockpuppets of Padmalakshmisx. Of the IPs that I've found, most seem to be in India. I'd be curious to see what a CU determined about Marchoctober if you guys think there's enough behavioral stuff to go on. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:00, 19 October 2016 (UTC)
I don't remember the IPs offhand but you might find them if you look at my or Tnxman307's blocking logs from 2011/12. Unfortunately, this chap has lasted longer than CUs and admins who've been blocking him. —SpacemanSpiff 04:20, 19 October 2016 (UTC)
There're more bloody sockfarms than film articles for this kind of behavior. See Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Bhuvannalla for another example. —SpacemanSpiff 05:05, 19 October 2016 (UTC)

Saad orhaan

Okay the page Saad orhaan was recreated, apparently Saad Orhaan was created by a banned user, but I don't know the account so I cannot do the db-banned tag. Wgolf (talk) 22:18, 19 October 2016 (UTC)

Wgolf, it's a COI promo ring -- Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Shamimanm, many articles are still around (including the original Sadh Orhan). —SpacemanSpiff 00:25, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
I've added the Saad Orhaan article to my watchlist, for whatever that's worth. :) Cyphoidbomb (talk) 00:37, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

Mindcap

Glad I'm not the only one to see the similarity with Smileverse, but I don't remember http://newwaysys.com/ being involved in that case which is the company that owns all of the crappy domains referenced at Kasha Mann. SmartSE (talk) 15:34, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

@Smartse: They had a boat load of domains too, some of it directly under Smileverse under his real name, some under a Bangalore based company, some under an OZ company and so on. This is not too different from Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Snehilsharma. Both operate very similarly, just geographically different. This is geographically closer, similar userpage too, and declared paid COI. —SpacemanSpiff 15:41, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
Yeah I find it hard to believe that that that was their first account, but then again reporting me to AIV wasn't the response I'd expect from an experienced PE... Cheers for the block btw. SmartSE (talk) 19:33, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

Jhony sock

The latest: INeverHappy. lNeverCry 00:08, 15 October 2016 (UTC)

I just found another: Special:Contributions/INeverCry17. Sro23 (talk) 18:02, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) @Sro23: I've blocked INeverCry17. I originally went with hard block, but then opted for soft, since there was no clear indication (to me) that they were intentionally impersonating INeverCry. Their edits didn't scream disruption. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:26, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
I changed it to a hardblock as this chap is a serial impersonator. SO far he's impersonated at least four of us and his copyvio disruption has been going on for far too long. —SpacemanSpiff 23:52, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
Well, you guys know him best! Cyphoidbomb (talk) 00:02, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 03:01, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

Special Jhony sock

Here's one who's already soft-blocked for his name: A1 Family Group. He uploaded to Commons from a Flickr account named after you: https://www.flickr.com/photos/147966766@N07/. First time I've seen that one... I've blacklisted it of course. lNeverCry 00:48, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

Good grief, this chap has way too much time on his hands. I think we've uncovered over 15 flickr washing accounts so far. Cyphoidbomb, this is why a soft block seldom helps. Often TP access has to be revoked too as the unblock requests waste a lot of time, given the deception. —SpacemanSpiff 01:55, 21 October 2016 (UTC)
Understood, but there was nothing that stuck out as obvious vandalism to me or obvious impersonation. A person could theoretically have come up with the name INeverCry in good faith. Or SpacemanSpiff, for that matter. But I'm happy to leave these to you though, since you are more familiar with them. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 02:13, 21 October 2016 (UTC)
Oh yes, it's just that this chap is a copyvio nuisance who tries to play using the usernames of other people or famous BLPs.—SpacemanSpiff 03:49, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

Post deletion

hey, I added a character in the Ramayana Page. May I know the reason for deleting my post> — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aanshi1106 (talkcontribs) 11:00, 21 October 2016 (UTC) Aanshi1106 (talk) 11:06, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

You copied over content from Parashurama without attributions (see WP:CWW) and also that isn't how it goes per Valmiki Ramayana. —SpacemanSpiff 11:46, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

Hi - why have I - PCuomo - had my account removed? It all seems very odd and not designed to help those of us new to all this. Frustrating to say the least. Please let me know how to sort this out? Many thanks (PS. I love your black lab photo!) Pcuomo (talk) 23:19, 25 October 2016 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Pcuomo, I will continue with an answer on your talkpage. - Brianhe (talk) 23:24, 25 October 2016 (UTC)
